10월 7일 8일 엘에이에서 북미평화협정 촉구 시위

엘에이 동포들이 미국 반전평화운동가들과 함께 10월 7일 토요일 정오 윌셔/웨스턴 지하철역 앞에서 그리고 8일 일요일 윌셔/버몬트 지하철역 앞에서 트럼프의 코리아전쟁책동을 반대하고 북미평화협정체결을 촉구하는 시위를 진행하였다.

 

미국의 반전평화단체인 ANSWER와 IAC(International Action Center)가 주최한 시위에 재미동포전국연합회를 비롯하여 여러 동포진보단체들이 참여하였고 미국의 평화를 사랑하는 여러 나라 사람들이 참여하였다.

 

자유발언에서 모두 반북전쟁은 핵전쟁이 될 것이며 이는 인류의 재앙이 될 것이라고 우려하였다. 그리고 미국은 전쟁에 드는 경비를 교육과 복지, 푸엘토 리코의 재해복구에 투자해야 한다고 요구하였다.

 

또 수십 년간 휴전상태에서 북이 미국의 숨막히는 재제와 전쟁위협에 시달려온 것을 지적하며, 북은 미국의 지속적인 전쟁위협으로부터 자신을 지킬 권리가 있다고 언급하였다. 또 미국이 국제정세 악화의 근원이라고 지적하고, “화염과 분노” 발언에 이어 북의 “완전파괴”를 외친 트럼프의 유엔발언은 자주국가에 대한 위협적인 도발이라고 규탄하였다.

 

참여자들은 코리아 문제는 무력으로 해결할 것이 아니라 외교적인 해결을 해야한다고, 또 미군이 코리아에서 철수하고 북과 미국이 평화협정을 체결해야 한다고 강조하였다.

 

참여자들은 모두 큰소리로 구호들을 외쳤다.

코리아에서 손 떼라!

미군철수!

평화협정 체결하라!

 

미주 양심수후원회 김시환 회장이 전쟁을 반대하고 평화를 촉구하는 다음의 결의문을 낭독하였다.

 

 

We are here today to demand the U.S. and South Korean government stop escalating the situation with North Korea and find a peaceful resolution immediately!

President Trump's fire and fury comment is no longer an empty

threat.In his UN speech the other day Trump has said the United State

will totally destroy North Korea if it is threatened by the regime.

The UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and Trump's security adviser said all of the military options are on the table.

The South Korean President made

things worse by stating the missile test made any dialogue impossible

and warned Pyongyang of an attack that would make it unable to

recover. However he must remember that although he is the Commander in Chief in the Korean military, he does not have operation control authority. That belongs to the U.S. by agreement. In other words,South Korea does not have military sovereignty.

 

We cannot condone this type of behavior. With South Korea and the U.S. continuing to provoke North Korea, nobody would be surprised if war broke out tomorrow. This is the most dangerous situation we've been in since the Korean War.

Diplomacy with North Korea worked during the Clinton era and can work again.

Many agreements have been made with North Korea, but the U.S. never honors their agreements, whether it's with North Korea or the Native Americans. NAFTA,FTA,Paris agreement and Iran's nuclear deal are some examples just with the Trump Administration.

North Korea has repeatedly said they would consider putting it's

nuclear weapons and missiles on the negotiating table if the U.S. would end it's threatening posture.This fact has been completely obscured by U.S. officials and the mainstream news media.

 

We urge President Trump and President Moon to stop all military

exercise. Bring U.S. troops home and close the U.S. base in South

Korea. Start the peace process now to end the Korean War.

The U.S. and South Korea completed a war game last August simulating an attack that would dissipate North Korean leadership. North Korea is a member of the United Nations and is a sovereign country. This type of attack  would be a violation of the UN Charter. With these types of simulations it is logical that North Korea would respond with more weapons test. Continuously provoking North Korea is jeopardizing American and Korean lives.

President Moon must stop being PresidentTrumps' poodle and stop betraying everyone that participated in the candle light vigil that put him into power. He should be talking to

North Korea, not begging Trump and other members of the UN for

stronger sanctions against our brother country.

President Trump's priority should be keeping the American people safe!

You need to stop

intervening over seas and solve the many problems in your own country.

If you want to put America first like you said.Then Hands off

Venezuela, Hands off Syria,Hands off Iraq, Hands off Iran,Hands off

Afghanistan and hands off North Korea! Focus on the good, deserving

American people. You can start by denouncing white supremacy, racism,fascism and bigotry. Then you can focus on creating jobs, universal health care, education,gun control and helping the storm victims and homeless.This will all make a stronger, better America.
